Gudi Padwa marks the start of the traditional lunar New Year for the Marathi and Konkani communities in India, occurring on March 19 in 2026. This celebration takes place on the first day of the Chaitra month and identifies with the creation of the universe and the coronation of Lord Rama.

Within the state of Maharashtra and several surrounding regions, the date is recognized as a gazetted public holiday.
